The olive tree has many amazing features. It has been a symbol of peace for many years. I believe that if our roots are strong and in the correct ‘soil’ we too can flourish and grow. Sometimes all we need is the correct environment, support and nurturing.
The olive tree is known for its longevity, lasting 1 000’s of years.
It is prolific in bearing fruit, almost being ‘generous’ in its supply.
It has a strong, indestructible root system which is able to regenerate itself. In 1985 in Tuscany all the olive trees were destroyed by frost but in the spring new shoots sprung up and the trees produced fruit.
Olive trees are drought friendly and survive in tough conditions.
Olive trees through the ages are known to be a symbol of abundance, glory and peace.
Jeremiah 17:8 ‘They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes. Its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.’
